Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch – California

by eazynazy

Recently During the Spring  I was in the Carlsbad,California and got to know about the Famous Flower Fields . Being a Girl, I found the name itself Fascinating and quickly bought the tickets from their website and was very excited to see the flowers .

The Flower Fields opens up once a year in spring from March 1 through May 10. The area has a number of attractions, including its Tecolote Giant Ranunculus, a greenhouse filled with cymbidium orchids, a 279-by-147-foot American flag made out of red, white, and blue petunias, musical events and Educational tours for both children and adults.

As I was passing through the Flower Fields, I saw a huge field filled with blue , red and white Flowers and later I realized that it is actually a replica of The American Flag which is the largest ever planted in petunias. The flower flag is 279 feet long and 147 feet wide. It covers around one acre and requires a total of 18,989 red, white and Blue Petunias plants.

The Flower Fields has been planting the Flag ever year since September 11, 2001 attacks as a tribute to the memory of those who were lost.

In addition Antique Tractor-Wagon rides are available, transporting visitors around the planted fields, stopping off to let folks walk around and enjoy the scenery, and picking them back up are returning then to the start point.

There is also a Play area for kids with lots of Colorful Play structures and seating area for Adults which is named as ‘Santa’s Village’. Me and My little one had an amazing time playing in this area.

Location :

5704 Paseo Del Norte
Carlsbad, CA 92008
(760) 431-0352

Tickets :

The tickets were 14$/Adult (as of 2017) which is quite reasonable . If you want to go on a Wagon-Tractor ride then it is additional 5$/person.You can buy the Tickets on their website.

Parking :

There is a Huge parking lot allotted for the Flower Fields visitors which is surprisingly FREE of cost. You can also find more FREE parking in the Carlsbad Premium outlet Mall which is adjacent to the Flower fields.

I didn’t realize that there flowers like that in California. I’ve seen the Dutch gardens in Michigan – and they are beautiful in the Spring. Isn’t it funny how I feel I need to go somewhere I didn’t even know existed 15 minutes ago?
