If you are New York, how do you not see the Lady Liberty???Statue of liberty is located on Liberty Island which lies in between New York & New Jersey. You can depart both from New York & New Jersey.Keep in mind that tickets for the pedestal can be bought last minute, however if you want to go up to the crown make sure to reserve your tickets as early as possible, in some cases MONTHS. I reserved my tickets 45days prior to my arrival date,i bought them on Statuecruises.com and was 21$ per person.

The ticket includes :

  1.  Round trip Ferry service
  2. Ellis island immigration Museum
  3. statue of liberty grounds
  4. Audio tour
  5. Access to statue of liberty Pedestal & Museum
  6. Access to statue of liberty Crown

Upon arrival to the battery park, volunteers guided us to the cruises with lots & lots of security points, so better travel light. They have small lockers for rentals $2 for 2hours(cash only). After the security check up we waited for the ferry ,the wait time was around 20 minutes (@9.30am) from New York side & the ferry was full with crowd . You can board from New Jersey side If you want to avoid the wait time & crowd on your ferry.

The ride was cool, but then I saw her in the distance.  Ferry takes us to Liberty Island so we can see her close up.  Ride across the bay was scenic. The ride was short & quick.

Once on the island I observed the lovely New York skyline and the back of the lady.  Standing beneath her you truly sense how tall she is.This is the ultimate stop for photos of the Manhattan skyline and the statue herself.

The Statue of Liberty Pedestal has a museum inside where the models of liberty, its history and the original torch is displayed.

once at the top of pedestal, there is an observation deck as well

From there we went up to the crown, There are 162 narrow and tight steps from the top of the pedestal to the crown. There is no elevator access from the top of the pedestal to the crown platform (from the Statue’s feet to the Statue’s head).Once you are up,The view from the crown is breath-taking.

SUMMARY :

I would highly recommend to visit this place If you are visiting NYC,  it is a must to visit Lady Liberty!

Come early in the morning if you want to avoid longggg lines.
